Source: Hua Hin News
A
Swedish Association has been founded in Hua Hin, aiming to give the
approximately 4,000 resident Swedes in Hua Hin a possibility to meet
and learn to know each other. At the meetings, the Association have a
speaker, talking on subjects like Thai real estate law, services by the
Swedish Embassy in Bangkok, Thai visa regulations etc.
After only three meetings, the Association has more than 300 members
and it is a steady flow of new members joining. Hua Hin is definitely a
place that many Swedish people have taken to their heart! An estimated
40% of all farangs living – part time or full time – in the Hua Hin
area are from Sweden.
The
founders of The Swedish Association in Hua Hin, as it formally is
named, are Gert Andersson, Lars Olof Fagerström and Margareta Olsson.
At
the latest meeting, senior consular officer Pär Kågeby of the Swedish
Embassy in Bangkok talked about the consular services of the Embassy.
Questions from members were forwarded by the secretary of the
Association, Mr Lars Olof Fagerström.
The Association’s chairman, Mr Gert Andersson, is surprised but happy about the fantastic response by the Swedes in Hua Hin:
- We are growing at a rate that gives us some headache, but definitely
more joy, and also some power, Mr Andersson says. He continues:
- We have already noticed that the Thai authorities consider us a
speaking partner on some matters, which hopefully will benefit all
foreigners in the area.
The Association holds one meeting per month, usually the last Thursday
in the month. Meeting place is the restaurant 3 Girls, on 15/57
Chulapataan Rd, Hua Hin.
